Al-Bastanji: 418% Growth in the Number of Tractor Head Declarations Cleared Through the Zarqa Free Zone

From April 15 to September 12, 2023

Mohammed Al-Bastanji, the Chairman of the Jordanian Free Zones Investors Commission , announced a 418% growth rate in the number of tractor head declarations that have been cleared through the Zarqa Free Zone.

Al-Bastanji explained in a press statement that the number of tractor head declarations registered 555 statements during the period from April 15, 2023, to September 12 of the current year, compared to 107 statements in the same period of 2022.

Al-Bastanji stated that this growth came as a result of two government decisions: the first allows the import of tractor heads that are no more than 8 years old, and the second exempts these tractor heads from the 16% general sales tax.

He further elaborated that these decisions boost economic growth by stimulating investments and increasing commercial activity, in addition to providing new job opportunities and supporting sustainable development in the Kingdom.

Al-Bastanji sees these statistics as definitive evidence of the effectiveness of the government's policies in stimulating economic activity in the free zones.

He emphasized that the increase in the number of tractor head declarations is not just a number; it represents an incentive for investment and an improvement in the operational capabilities of ports, roads, and logistic stations. He also noted that updating the truck fleet provides the opportunity to work in neighboring countries.

He predicted that this growth will have positive effects on the national economy as a whole, through providing new job opportunities and supporting sustainable development.
