Al-Bustanji: Reactivating the Vehicle Deregistration Decision Directly Benefits 517 Cars

The Jordanian Free Zone Investors Commission announced that 517 vehicles have directly benefited from the reactivation of the vehicle deregistration decision following the latest amendments. The commission clarified that this decision was introduced to address an existing issue rather than serve as a broad compensation policy for citizens.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the commission’s chairman, MP Mohammad Al-Bustanji, emphasized that the decision was an exceptional measure aimed at resolving the issue faced by citizens who had already begun the deregistration process before the suspension of the previous mechanism. While approximately 2,000 individuals were eligible, only 517 vehicles were ultimately able to benefit from the decision.

Al-Bustanji praised the government’s decision to allow the completion of deregistration procedures that had started before the system was halted, considering it a relief measure that helped ease the financial burden on affected individuals. He also highlighted that this decision reflects the government’s commitment to finding balanced solutions that meet market needs while maintaining a fair equilibrium between public revenues and consumer interests.

He further noted that more than 100,000 vehicles had previously benefited from the deregistration system since its implementation in 2015.
