Al-Rifai: Clearance of 1,920 Truck Tractors Last Year

The Vice Chairman of the Jordanian Free Zone Investors Commission, Sharaf Al-Din Al-Rifai, stated that the number of truck tractors cleared from the Zarqa Free Zone last year reached 1,920, marking an 11% increase compared to 2023, when 1,738 units were cleared.

Al-Rifai added that the clearance volume in 2023 saw a significant jump compared to 2022, when only 143 truck tractors were cleared, whereas in 2021, the number stood at 408.

He explained that the rise in 2023 was attributed to a Cabinet decision allowing the import of truck tractors up to eight years old before the clearance year. He noted that this decision provided a significant boost to the freight sector and contributed to modernizing the operating fleet in the Kingdom.

He further highlighted that the decision was based on a study conducted by the commission, which recommended allowing the import of truck tractors no older than seven years to enhance operational efficiency within the freight sector and improve its regional competitiveness.

The freight sector is considered one of the key pillars supporting Jordan’s trade movement, relying heavily on fleet modernization to reduce operating costs and improve logistics services in an increasingly competitive regional market.
